2014 - 2015 Season is Coming
On October 15th, the curling club had our annual general meeting. We thank the representatives from the town for attending and helping us get a few matters cleared up.
One thing that did happen is that the rent for our building from the town has been increased. That has forced us to raise the league fees for this year. The cost per player will be $220.00 per person for the first league and $110.00 for each additional league.
So leagues will start on the first week of November. Get your teams entered by calling Mike Taylor (780) 307-8029 for Tuesday and Paula Clark (780) 349-4130 for Thursday.
We look forward to seeing you at the rink this year.
Another Season Has Come To An End
Another season has come and gone at the Westlock Curling Club. We hope that you have all enjoyed your curling, and we look forward to seeing you next season. The Tuesday league was won by Steph Gervais and his foursome including Dave Montgomery, Shane Gervais and Lamont Montgomery. The Thursday league was won by Adelle Clark's crew with Darryl Hoogers, Tammy Fraser, and Kat Shank.
Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers that help us to make our curling club continue to function, and we look forward to seeing you in the fall. Have a great summer.
A Good Time Was Had By All
The Town and Country Bonspiel ran from January 2nd to 5th. Teams came from as far away as Sylvan Lake to make the 24 team schedule.
The Finals started at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon Hugh Clark's Westlock rink out shot Norm Rivard to take the A event sponsored by Westlock Ford. Hugh' s comment after the game, "The ice was fantastic, had a great turn out and lots of fun." In the Westlock Motors sponsored B, Mike Taylor of Westlock edged out the Westlock Ford foursome. The Brown's Chrysler C event was taken by Terry Fenton of Legal who beat Emily Clark in the final, and the Sunnie Valley Farms D event was a battle of the Clyde rinks with Dennis Hampshire over coming Dustin Nyal.
A HUGE thanks to our event sponsors that allow us to make bonspiels like this happen. We hope to see you out at our upcoming bonspiels and join in the fun.

New Name For Curling Rink
The new Servus Curling Centre name is a direct result of fundraising efforts to build the Westlock Rotary Spirt Centre.
"Servus Credit Union donated $75,000 to the Spirit of Westlock Foundation on the construction of the Spirit Centre, so as such they have naming rights on the curling rink," deputy mayor David Truckey said.
Truckey said Servus paid for the signs to be installed on the north and south outside walls of the curling rink, while the foundation paid for installing the signs inside the Spirit Centre by the door between the two facilities.
The signage went up in mid to late June, he said. Former CAO Darrell Garceau had been working on getting the signage installed before he departed for British Colombia.
